I still can’t believe my baby girl is ONE! Her birthday party was SNOW much fun! True to my type A personality, I started researching ideas for her birthday party when she was only a few weeks old. When I saw the Winter ONEderland theme, I fell in love. Being she’s a December baby and we live in Toronto and all, the concept was so fitting.
Now, before you begin scrolling, I know that this doesn’t look like a typical first birthday, but in my culture, it’s very common to do big first birthday parties. Punjabis will find any excuse to have a big party and if surviving the first year of parenthood doesn’t call for a celebration, then what does?
When planning her birthday party, I really wanted to make it feel as if you’re walking into a Winter Wonderland, complete with cute little details throughout. Thank you to Karma Design for helping bring my vision to life.
Before entering the hall, at the receiving table, there was a blow up canvas photo of my daughter from her 1st Birthday DIY photoshoot, a snow(wo)man and a table with cute details.
As you walk in, there were snowflakes projected on the walls. The stage had sheer frosty blue paneling, snow(wo)men, trees covered in snow, snowflakes and crystals and a cake in the middle. The cake also had elements of a winter wonderland with crystals and snowflake details. Lastly, we got a custom vinyl floor wrap to bring it all together.
The centerpieces were a mix of mini trees with crystals and snowflakes and short vases of pine cones.
For our program, we had a fun entrance with Ziana driving in a red Audi! When we first put her in the car, she was crying, so we thought we’d just have to carry her in. But to our surprise, right before her entrance, she got comfortable with the car and “drove” in like a pro!
Throughout the evening, we also had a face painter and a bouncy castle for kids (and some adults) to enjoy!
There was also a popcorn cart, cotton candy machine and hot chocolate bar for both adults and kids to enjoy.
To thank our guests snow much for coming, we provided “melted snowflake” bottles. The loot bags for the kids were snow themed books and boxes of chocolate.
All in all it was a great evening and people of all ages enjoyed – there was something for everyone. See below for some more highlights!
