My husband and I spent a lovely week in Turks & Caicos, home to Grace Bay Beach, the most beautiful beach in the world. I’ve never seen such soft white sand and beautiful crystal clear waters, where there’s no seaweed or rocks in sight. It was a lovely experience, and we had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot while we were out there. I wanted some classic, evergreen photos to remember this special time in our lives by, with a mix of non traditional maternity pics in a bikini, as there’s a whole different kind of beauty you experience when growing life inside you. I share highlights of my babymoon shoot below, captured by Attimi Photography.
My dress is from H&M from their By Night Collection, which is currently only available at limited locations of H&M across Canada. To accommodate my growing belly, it is shown here in a size 12, but I do feel this dress fits small and not true to size. I paired it with simple crystal stud earrings in rose gold.
I wanted to add a bit of flair with my bikini look. The bikini top is a find from a local boutique in Rio, Brazil which I bought during my honeymoon in Brazil about 5 years back. The bikini bottom is from Victoria Secret. Both pictured here in size Small. I complimented the bikini with a kimono style cover up, which is from Victoria Secret, another find I picked up from my travels in Miami during my bachelorette. I adorned my pregnant belly with two belly chains, the longer simpler one is from H&M and I layered a stunning white and blue crystal one over top from Smooch Swimwear.
Hair & Make Up
We scheduled our photoshoot for the day we landed, so I got my hair blow dried from Blo Bar in Oakville the evening before, knowing it would last until the next day.
I kept my make up very soft. For a smooth foundation application, I lightly pressed in Kavita Suri’s HD Airbrush Primer all over my face, followed by NARS’ All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in the colour Tahoe applied with a damp beauty blender. I highlighted my face by applying MAC’s Select Cover Up under the eyes extending to my cheekbones (picture a wide upside down triangle), on the bridge of my nose, on my forehead, above the jawline and my cupids bow. I then baked the areas I highlighted by dipping a damp beauty blender into NYX’s Color Correcting Powder in Banana and pressing it onto the areas highlighted, brushing off the excess powder with a powder brush. Then I added a bit of shimmer to my cheekbones, cupids bow and bridge of my nose using Becca’s Champagne Pop. I did powder contour only, using MAC’s Powder Blush in Blunt in the hollows of my cheeks (to find the hollows of your cheeks, do a fishy face), jawline, temples, hairline and sides of my nose. I created a soft smokey eye, using Too Faced’s Natural Matte Eyeshadow palette (the palette has changed slightly since I bought it a few years ago). I had actually forgot to pack my eyeliner, so I dipped my eyeliner brush in water and lined the top of my eyes with the darkest eyeshadow in the palette. I lined my waterline with Lise Watier’s 24 Hours Glam Eyeshadow stick in Champagne Glam. Lastly, I lined my lips with MAC’s lip liner in soar, painted my lips with Stila Cometics’ liquid lipstick in Petina mixed with MAC’s Cremesheen lipstick in Fanfare for a soft peachy coral look.
