Kavita Suri is one of the pioneers in South Asian bridal make up, fusing eastern traditions with western trends in beauty. In fact, she did my sister’s make up for her wedding over 10 years ago and has gone on to open up her own medical wellness spa (in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto), a beauty academy and was the principal make up artist for South Asian bridal magazine Suhaag for 9 years. She’s also had the pleasure to work with entertainment heavyweights like Hollywood actress Jada Pinkett Smith and Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra.
So when I saw that she recently started her own airbrush make up line, I had to see what it was all about.
Like many professional make up artists, she’s always dreamed of starting her own cosmetics line.
“It was challenging for me to find a line that matched all skin tones, lasted long and has a flawless finish.” – Kavita Suri
Her line consists of a Face Primer, Airbrush Foundation and Blush. The foundation and blushes are all oil-free and water based which allows for easy application, a lasting finish and the skin to breathe. Furthermore, it’s formulated for perfect color match system, making it suitable for all skin tones. However, to get best results with airbrush make up, it’s important to have a wrinkle and pore free canvas. This is where the star product from her line comes in: the oil-free HD Air Brush Face Primer which has vitamin E to hydrate and silicone to smooth out the skin. It can be used under both airbrush and regular make up, leaving you with the perfect base for a truly flawless matte finish.
Despite being a busy entrepreneur, getting in touch with her and setting something up was effortless. She’s courteous, prompt and polite, leaving you with a great feeling from the start.
When I arrived at Infuse Med Spa, she gave me a quick tour of her charming spa and we sat down in a well lit room, while she turned on some music and took in the vibe I was giving off to guide her on the look she was going to create for me. She likes to pick up on people’s vibe and personality to see what look suits them best when doing their make up. When finished, the best way to describe my look was Barbie and I must say, she picked up my vibe perfectly (for those who know me…know this all too well)!
