5 Make Up Products I Can’t Live Without

The cosmetic industry is a vast and endless abyss leaving you clueless about which product to buy. If you go into Sephora, aside from the over whelming selection, each customer services representative will have their own favourite. So how do you know what to buy? I’ve tried so many products and I have the VIB Rouge status at Sephora to prove it – and to think, Sephora’s only one of my go to places for make up and skin care! I share with you my top 5 make up items (in no particular order) that through trial and error have lasted the test of time and I’m always running to repurchase as soon it runs out.

1) Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara

Maybelline Falsie's Volum' Express Mascara

I’ve tried high end mascaras and other brands, but I always come back to this one. In fact, a number of make up artists prefer drugstore brand mascara, particularly Maybelline. It’s usually a toss up between Great Lash, Colossal Volum’ Express or Falsies Volum’ Express. This mascara gives me volume and length like no other and at a price tag of $6, it’s a no brainer!

2) DUO Eyelash Glue

DUO Eyelash Glue in Dark Tone

I wrote about this in a previous post, False Eyelashes for Dummies. This is the holy grail of eyelash glue for anyone who applies falsies or is even thinking about it. It comes in a clear or dark color and which of the two you choose is really a matter of preference. With this glue, you’ll never have a mishap of where half your eyelash is falling off midway through the night. It will stay stuck until you take it off. I currently use the dark one as I find it blends better over black eyeliner if I make any mistakes.

3) MAC’s Fanfare Lipstick

I have over 25 lipsticks, so it’s not often that my lipstick runs out and I need to replace it, unless it’s the oh so versatile Fanfare by MAC. It’s the lipstick I keep in my purse and goes with literally everything. I can wear at work, in interviews, or a night out. It goes with just mascara, a winged eyeliner, a soft smokey eye and even a heavy smokey eye.

4) Make Up Forever’s Aqua Black Cream Cake Eyeliner

For everyday, I use a drugstore brand liquid liner, but when I’m serious about my eyeliner game, nothing beats cake eyeliner. I’ve tried numerous kinds, but this one is my all time favourite. I remember once an associate at Sephora mistakenly told me it was discontinued and a part of my soul almost died (I know I’m a drama queen!). It comes on very smooth and dark, but what I love most is that it has a seal that keeps the eyeliner fresh until the very end. Many cake eyeliners dry up because the packaging doesn’t have an extra seal to keep the eyeliner from drying up.

5) Make Up Forever’s HD Microfinish Powder

Make Up Forever's HD Microfinish Powder

Don’t you hate when your make up melts off and loses that freshness after a long day? With this setting powder, it keeps your make up fresh for hours on end. If I have a big night out, or need my make up to take me from work to a night out, I simply sweep a bit of this powder all over my face using a powder brush, after I’ve applied all my make up to set it. It leaves a velvety smooth finish and keeps your make up in place.
