1. Neutral Nails vs. Nail Art
3D busy nails are over and now it’s time for neutral nails to shine. This year it’s all about the soft, effortless look. Try some soft pinks, nudes and even browns with your next manicure – they look great and go with everything you’re wearing.
2. Fresh Face vs. Cake Face
I already discussed the end of cake face era in my recent post, Trend Alert 2015: Has Contouring Gone Too Far?. The days of layering on pounds of concealers, highlighters, markers and crayons to completely transform your face are coming to an end. This year it’s more about accenting what you have with soft shimmers and bronzing powders.
3. YSL vs. Prada
Let’s face it, there’s nothing right now from Prada on anybody’s lust list. I mean, nobody makes a wallet like Prada and I currently own one, however unlike the Chanel Boy Bag, Gucci Soho Disco Bag and well everything YSL – Prada just doesn’t have the it factor this season. Right now I’m loving YSL’s Cabas Monogram Bag for everyday wear, and who doesn’t love their Classic Monogram Tassel Satchel in Lipstick Red for a night out? Not to mention their Classic Jane Ankle Strap Shoes.
4. Nude Bottoms vs. Red Bottoms
Louboutins have become more of a social statement rather than a fashion statement. This year, it’s about getting back to the basics with nude bottoms – Jimmy Choos, Stuart Weitzman, YSL (of course), Valentino and an honourable mention to Vince Camuto who recently passed (RIP).
5. Alpha Female vs. Alpha Male
Out of all the statuesque beauties, the eternal bachelor, George Clooney settled down with Amal – he really needed an Alpha Female to tame him. They’re the it couple because Amal is the it woman. If anyone watched the Golden Globes, he knows that he got lucky, not the other way around. This year, it’s about well rounded, strong, fierce women who have a supportive man with ample confidence that’s proud to let her shine, and it’s not always about him.
