Anti aging begins with how you take care of yourself – inner and outer. To age gracefully, it’s important to sleep well, eat well and maintain an active lifestyle. But in addition to all that, there are always skin products that give us that extra boost.
The single most important product you will ever need in your daily anti aging routine is SUNSCREEN. The biggest cause of wrinkles is sun damage. I know that many of you have probably heard it before, but I can’t begin to explain how it’s never too soon to start wearing sunscreen daily. I started using a face cream that included SPF in high school. It’s the easiest thing you can do to prevent wrinkles – because you gotta moisturize your skin daily anyway!
Using SPF isn’t for just for sunny days or beach vacations. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, foggy or winter – as long as it’s daytime, UV rays, whether you can see them or not, are still penetrating through the clouds.
Since I have oily/combination skin, I like using a mattifying moisturizer that hydrates but helps control shine at the same time. This product doesn’t contain SPF. Usually, quality skin products that focus on specific skin care needs don’t contain SPF as it dilutes the efficacy of the product otherwise.
I incorporate sunscreen (50 SPF or more) by pumping out the recommended amount of my daily moisturizer, then squeezing about a pea/dime size amount of sunscreen into the moisturizer and then applying it all over my face and neck.
When choosing your sunscreen, it’s important to pick sunscreens especially made for the face as sunscreens can be oily and cause breakouts.
Age will catch up to us, so don’t regret not spending that extra 2 seconds in your daily skin care routine now!
My current sunscreen picks in order of preference that can be incorporated into your daily routine are as follows. They’re all light weight moisture, easy absorption and have a non-greasy feeling on the skin.
La Roche Posay 60 SPF Ultra Fluid Face Cream
Dermaglow SPF 70 Cream
Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream
